AL A`ADIYAT (THE SPRINTERS)
(Revealed at Mecca - contains 11 verses - 1 section)
Allah – beginning with the name of – the Most Gracious, the Most Mericful
AYAT |
TRANSLATION |
1 |
وَالْعَادِيَاتِ ضَبْحًا |
By oath of those that sprint, breathing heavily. (The horses used in Holy War.) |
|
2 |
فَالْمُورِيَاتِ قَدْحًا |
Striking stones with their hooves, sparking fire. |
|
3 |
فَالْمُغِيرَاتِ صُبْحًا |
And by oath of those who raid at dawn. |
|
4 |
فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِ نَقْعًا |
So thereupon raising dust. |
|
5 |
فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِ جَمْعًا |
Then penetrate to the centre of the enemy army. |
|
6 |
إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لِرَبِّهِ لَكَنُودٌ |
Indeed man is very ungrateful towards his Lord. |
|
7 |
وَإِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ |
And indeed he himself is a witness to it. |
|
8 |
وَإِنَّهُ لِحُبِّ الْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ |
And indeed he loves wealth to the extreme. |
|
9 |
۞ أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِي الْقُبُورِ |
So does he not know? When those in the graves are raised, |
|
10 |
وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي الصُّدُورِ |
And all what lies in the breasts is opened – |
|
11 |
إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرٌ |
On that day their Lord surely knows all about them! |
