TAKWEER (THE ROLLING UP)

Allah beginning with the name of the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
AYAT |
TRANSLATION |
1 |
إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ |
When the sunlight is rolled up. |
|
2 |
وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ |
And when the stars fall down. |
|
3 |
وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ |
And when the mountains are driven. |
|
4 |
وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ |
And when milch camels roam abandoned. |
|
5 |
وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ |
And when wild animals are herded together. |
|
6 |
وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ |
And when the seas are set afire. |
|
7 |
وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ |
And when the souls are paired. |
|
8 |
وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ |
And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. |
|
9 |
بِأَيِّ ذَنبٍ قُتِلَتْ |
Upon what sin was she killed for. |
|
10 |
وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ |
And when the Records of Account are laid bare. |
|
11 |
وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ |
And when the heaven is torn away. |
|
12 |
وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ |
And when hell is further enflamed. |
|
13 |
وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ |
And when Paradise is brought near. |
|
14 |
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ |
Every soul will then come know what it has brought. |
|
15 |
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ |
So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) |
|
16 |
الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ |
Who move straight and stop. |
|
17 |
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ |
And by oath of the night when it turns back. |
|
18 |
وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ |
And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. |
|
19 |
إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ |
This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel peace and blessings be upon him.) |
|
20 |
ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ |
The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. |
|
21 |
مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ |
The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). |
|
22 |
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ |
And your companion is not insane. |
|
23 |
وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ |
And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape peace and blessings be upon them). |
|
24 |
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ |
And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet peace and blessings be upon him.) |
|
25 |
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَّجِيمٍ |
And the Quran is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. |
|
26 |
فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ |
So where are you going? |
|
27 |
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ |
That is but an advice to the entire creation! |
|
28 |
لِمَن شَاءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ |
For the one among you who wishes to become upright. |
|
29 |
وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
And what will you wish, except if Allah wills the Lord of the Creation. |
